This tutorial is for those using Google Voice. If you don’t already use this service, you are missing out.
I was receiving phone calls from a telemarketer masking their number with all zeros. Google Voice allows you to mark a caller as spam after it comes in, but what if you want to proactively block numbers? It’s easy – just follow these steps on your computer.
- In Gmail create a new contact and call it whatever you want. I chose “Telemarketing Spammer.”
- Add telephone numbers you want to block. In my case, I entered the three numbers 0000000, 0000000000 & 00000000000.
- An additional suggesting is that you create a new group dedicated to telemarketing spammers. Your own blacklist.

- Now go to your Google Voice account > go to Contacts > locate the contact to be blocked.
- Locate Edit Google Voice Settings and click on it.

- Look under When this contact calls you, click the button as indicated below, and select how you would like the call to be handled. I selected Treat as Spam. Click Save.

That’s it. Hopefully you will never receive a call masked in all zeros (or whatever you selected). If you receive calls from another non-standard number go ahead and add it to your contact or create a new contact.
