LastPass is a password manager service and much more. It allows you to automatically log in to web pages, store secure notes, automatically fill in forms, store secure notes, generate secure passwords, and more. After you create a free account you simply install an extension in your web browser, log in to LastPass, and let it run as you browse the web. When you log in to a secure website for the first time LastPass will ask if you would like to store the information. The next time you visit that same site LastPass can automatically enter your credentials or actually log you in (whichever option you chose).
Where does LastPass store your information? It is encrypted on their servers. You may worry about their security because it would be really bad if someone hacked their service, but it sounds like LastPass’ system is pretty secure because it is trusted by security expert Steve Gibson of GRC.com. You can read the transcripts or listen to the audio here.
If you decide to use LastPass you should create a strong master password (that you will be able to remember of course). No matter how secure the service, it will do no good if your password is weak.
