Being able to track them can help law enforcement to locate the thieves or those that purchase stolen property. One of the most common programs for tracking stolen computers is\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/store.lojackforlaptops.com\/store\/absolute\/en_US\/html\/pbPage.lojack_msrp_109\/ThemeID.9835600?resid=UPDYvgoBAlgAAEgbCDgAAAAz&amp;rests=1357961406383\" target=\"_blank\">LoJack for Laptops<\/a>. This software is not cheap, but in addition to locating your computer, it can lock or delete the system.<\/p>\n<p>I wanted to see what else was available from other companies so I did some searching. That was when I located\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/preyproject.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Prey<\/a>, which has a free option with some limitations [of course].\u00a0This product will protect laptop computers, desktop computers, and even cell phones. Here\u2019s quick a video describing Prey.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/18728980?byline=0&amp;portrait=0\" height=\"300\" width=\"400\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>If the free option does not meet your needs, there are different\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/panel.preyproject.com\/subscription\/new\" target=\"_blank\">paid plans<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/preyproject.com\/plans#pro-account-features\" target=\"_blank\">additional \u00a0features<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>My Experience<\/strong><br \/>\nThe free version of Prey appears to be a good option for my laptops so I am testing it out.<\/p>\n<p>The download was quick and easy to install. So easy in fact that there was no need to do a walk through. Once done installing Prey, I created an account that did not ask for much information. I received an email confirming the account and then I was sent to the log in page. I used my username and password to log in and then I saw my laptop displayed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mixoftech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/sshot-2013-01-11-20-14-47.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"sshot-2013-01-11-[20-14-47]\" src=\"http:\/\/mixoftech.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/sshot-2013-01-11-20-14-47.png\" width=\"645\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I clicked on the image of my laptop and was taken to the options screen.
